We are seeking an Operator Trainee for our Waste Water Treatment or Water Treatment Plant.  Job duties include monitoring and maintaining chemical levels, conducting equipment maintenance and repair, and sampling and lab testing.

This field is currently experiencing a shortage of qualified applicants.  We are interested in hiring someone with a mechanical or electrical background, or lab experience, and are willing to train the right candidate who can prove to us they are a hard-working, team player.  Operator trainees will obtain a Temporary Class 5A Waste Water Operator’s License or a Class 4 Water License within the first six months of employment, then spend three years working to acquire hours and knowledge to be eligible for a Permanent License.

The City covers the cost of training, licensing, and testing fees, and encourages job-specific training of all kinds.  We offer competitive pay and a generous benefit package available your first day of employment.  We also provide salary increases when certifications are earned.

The position requires lifting, climbing, confined space entry, weekend and shiftwork, occasional overtime, and additional compensation for on-call status.
