Trash & Recycling
Trash
The City contracts trash services through J&J Trash. To begin trash service please contact J&J at 301-360-5515.
Click here to see the collection map. Residents and commercial customers pay a flat rate of $35/quarter for trash services. Restaurant and food service establishments pay a flat rate of $250/quarter for trash services. This amount is billed by the City on quarterly utility bills.
Holiday Trash - As a general rule, if a holiday falls ON your scheduled collection day, then your pickup will slide to the day after the holiday. If the holiday DOES NOT fall ON your actual collection day, then your pick up will take place as normal.
Residents are reminded of the following regulations outlined in the City's trash ordinance:
1. All solid waste must be in containers. The owners of a property are responsible for cleaning up any litter that has escaped from solid waste containers.
2. All solid waste shall be placed at the curb for collection not earlier than 6:00 p.m. on the day preceding and no later than 6:00 a.m. on those days designated for collection and solid waste containers shall be removed by 6:00 a.m. of the day following collection.
3. All solid waste including solid waste containers must be located behind the front building line of the residence or non-residential property when not placed at the public street for collection.
4. It shall be unlawful for any person to place curbside for collection, any solid waste not generated within a residential or non-residential property within the City. It shall be unlawful for any person, firm or corporation to place solid waste on the property of another.
Failure to comply to these regulations will result in citations being issued 24 hours after notice of the violation if not corrected.
Recycling
Recycling is a free service provided to Brunswick residents through Frederick County. Click here for more information. To begin recycling service please contact Frederick County Recycling at 301-600-2960.
Additionally, a drop-off recycling site is available at Public Works, Monday-Friday, 7am - 3pm; and on Saturdays during scheduled Yard Waste Days.
Residents are reminded not to throw plastic bags or household trash into recycling containers at Public Works. Containers with too many non-recyclable materials are not accepted as recycling by the Frederick County Landfill and will be disposed of as trash, rather than recycling.
