Public Works Alerts - Weekly & Daily Information

Data collection for the City’s Utility Asset Field Survey has kicked off. This effort will collect data points representing public water, sewer, and storm drain features to complete our citywide mapping database in GIS. The precision and accuracy of utility infrastructure data is critical as it supports efficiency in operations, emergency response, and repair.
During this data collection effort beginning in April 2025, you may see members of KCI Technologies and the Department of Public Works conducting a field investigation. Field crews will be easily identifiable with GPS survey equipment and Hi-Viz safety vests along with KCI or Brunswick logos. Crews will mainly be working in roadway corridors and accessible property frontages to capture manhole, valve, sanitary cleanout, and water meter data points.
No property owner action is required at this time. However, if you have any questions, please contact the Director of Public Works, John Gerstner at 301-834-7500 x400 or Abby Hall (Program Manager - GIS and Env) at 301-834-7500 x200.
Cross-Connection and Backflow Prevention Program
Did you know the City of Brunswick has a Cross-Connection and Backflow Prevention Program in place? Are you asking yourself “What is a Cross-Connection and Backflow Prevention Program?”
This program is in place to help safeguard the City’s water system, preventing the backflow of contaminants or pollutants into our potable water system. The City will begin reaching out to properties where cross-connection is possible, so we can survey and inspect the property to be sure it complies with regulations.
