Upcoming Sewer Line Replacement – East G Street

The City of Brunswick will soon begin a sewer line replacement project on East G Street, from the 200 block to the dead end, starting at 2nd Avenue. This project is part of the City’s ongoing efforts to maintain and improve essential infrastructure that serves our residents.

Project Overview

To minimize disruption to residents, the work has been divided into two phases. Phase I begins later this month, with Phase II is anticipated to follow in July 2026. The City is currently working to finalize pricing and secure a contractor for Phase II, and additional details will be shared once those arrangements are in place. The City appreciates the patience and cooperation of residents as this essential infrastructure work is completed.

The City has awarded the construction contract to Pay Dirt, LLC in the amount of $179,800.00. The work will include:

  • Replacement of the existing sewer main on East G Street with a new 8‑inch PVC sewer main
  • Installation of new 4‑inch PVC house connection services
  • Construction of six (6) new sewer manholes
  • Installation of new sewer cleanouts at property lines

The new cleanouts will give City crews better access to the system, allowing maintenance and repairs to be performed more quickly and efficiently in the future.

Benefits of the New Sewer Line

This project will provide multiple important long‑term benefits for residents and the community, including:

  • More reliable sewer service
  • Fewer emergency repairs and service disruptions
  • Improved access for maintenance and faster response times
  • Reduced risk of blockages and backups
  • Long‑term cost savings by replacing aging infrastructure
  • Stronger, modern materials designed to last for decades

Investing in sewer system upgrades now helps protect public health, property, and the overall reliability of City services.

What to Expect During Construction

During construction, residents may experience temporary inconveniences, including:

  • Temporary traffic impacts and lane restrictions on East G Street
  • Construction noise and heavy equipment in the area
  • Crews working during normal weekday hours, weather permitting

The City and contractor will work to minimize disruptions as much as possible.

Sewer service is expected to continue as normal during construction.
Residents should continue to use their plumbing as normal unless otherwise notified.
